MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

I've been quite the absent blogger lately. Sorry! Life in general has been INSANE, so I'm just trying to hold on tight and roll with the punches. This does not leave much time for blogging.
I do always have time for a MilSpouse Friday Fill-In!
Go over to Wife of a Sailor and link up!

With PCS moves happening every few years, do you take the time to paint and decorate your home? submitted by Life as Mrs. JPT
I always decorate our house but I have yet to paint, which makes me sad. I am SO tired of WHITE WALLS! Mr. I and I made a pact to paint our next home, I can't wait!

If you could live in any home on a television series, what would it be? submitted by Standing By Him

Does Real Housewives of New York count as a televison series? If so, I would want Luann's Hamptons house. I could become friends with Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa, anyone?) and she could make me food and pick me fresh hydrangeas from her garden.

What inspired you to start your blog? submitted by Pink Combat Boots

Reading other blogs inspired me to start my own blog and also the idea of having a place for me to release my thoughts and receive feedback from others.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen on base? submitted by Adventures in Life

I remember a few months after the first time I lived on post I was waiting in line at the post office. It was the holiday season so it was a long line. There was a mother with two children (ages 7 and maybe 9). The little boy accidently bumped into me and his mother got extremely upset with him and made him drop and do 20 pushups in front of everyone in line! He had to call out the number he was on and it was awkward to say the least. To this day, it has been one of the weirdest experiences I've had on post.

Which historical figure (politician, writer, artist, scientist, actor, etc…) would you like to have dinner with? submitted by Army of Two

Umm, Gerard Butler just so I could undress him with my eyes and listen his charming Scottish accent ;)

Update and What's Your Song? Link-Up

I know. I've been stackin' but I have a good excuse.
I've had three tests this week.
One graduation test, one precalculus test and one statistics test.
What is this? Midterms all over again?
Apparently, it's three-quarter-terms.
Anyway, I'll be back to blogging tomorrow. I have some updates and I also need some advice and opinions.

But before I go I had to link up with Goodnight Moon in her What's YOUR Song? Link-Up!

I heard this song on the way home from school today and fell in love with it.

Deployment Woes

Yesterday at around 10 am the power went out. This was not surprising for me since the power has gone out quite a bit since we moved here and it was windy yesterday. I decided since I couldn’t use my computer I’d read the assigned chapters for this week’s assignment instead. Not a big deal.

About three hours go by and I’m getting tired of reading, plus I have a “date” to chat with Mr. I at 4pm. At this point, I’m also starting to get a bit nervous because the electricity usually comes back on by now. I figure I’ll go next door ask the neighbors if their power is on, drive by the housing office on my way to Panera to have dinner and talk to Mr. I. The neighbors aren’t home and the housing office is closed. I thought to myself, “Oh, well. I’m sure it’ll be back on by the time I come home.” So, I go to Panera, I get to talk to Mr. I and I drive back home. My neighbor meets me at the front door and at the same time we both ask each other if we have electricity. The obvious answer is no. Then she proceeds to tell me, “I think the electrical box caught on fire.” HUH?! What?! I follow her to her side of the duplex and sure enough the box is covered in black soot. Her husband is on the phone trying to call anyone and everyone. It is Saturday and the housing office has closed early. I guess they got a hold of them before they closed but the person working there earlier in the day to ask about the outage but they didn’t know who to call…don’t get me started. He ends up calling the emergency maintenance number and the electric company. They came out about an hour and a half later.

It’s about 7:00pm and it’s getting cold and dark! Apparently, the electrical box didn’t catch on fire but the wires under the ground were rubbing up against the foundation of the house which caused them to spark and inevitably shoot black soot all over the box. They didn’t get done replacing the wires until almost 10:00pm. We did have a lot of great conversation and learned that the guy working on fixing everything has been in the business for 37 years.

Now, I can add “exposed electrical wires and 12 hour power outage” on my list of deployment woes.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

I am extra excited about this MilSpouse Friday Fill In because one of my questions is featured this week!
If you want to participate head over to Wife of a Sailor, say "Hi!" to Wifey and get this week's questions.
Simple as that.

Now, onto today's questions...

1.What romance movie scene reminds you of your s/o or spouse and the LOVE you share? submitted by Simply Sunshine and Daisy’s

I would say at the very end of You've Got Mail when Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan meet at central park. That movie moment always reminds me Mr. I and I...the love, the dog, meeting on the internet.

2.If you were allowed to deploy with your husband to a war zone would you and why? submitted by I & J

Oh! I can't believe Wife of a Sailor chose my question, I'm feeling awfully special this week :)
Anyway, back to the question...HECK YES!!! I think if we had children that would make this more complicated but since we don't I'd love to go with him on deployments. I'd want a job though, even if it was working in the PX or something. I couldn't just be kicking rocks around and waiting for him to come back from a convoy. I would go crazy.

3.Have you ever done anything (intentionally, or unintentionally) to embarrass your spouse/significant other in front of his military cohorts? submitted by Marrying the Navy

Hmmm, no I don't think so. Mr. I is super laid back though, I could say something totally stupid to embarrass him and he'd probably just laugh it off.

4.What is your most irrational fear? submitted by Eights on the Move

Dark water. I think sharks or snakes are going to attack me lol It's possible but HIGHLY unlikely.

5.If you could only live in one kind of climate for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? submitted by Many Waters

I'd like to live in a place that has all the seasons but summer are dry heat not filled with humidity. I've lived in a tropical climate (Hawaii) and hated it. I've lived in no seasons weather (San Diego) and its alright. I lived in a semi-southern climate (Virginia) and hate the humidity in the summer, bleh! I'm hoping Colorado will satisfy the climate I'm yearning for.
